I just wanted to give you an update on Tux. He really is the best boy ever! He has never tried to hike up his leg in the house. We haven't even heard him bark yet! So quiet. Maddie likes him so-so, but she gets jealous when he is given some attention. (And he has been given a lot of attention since the day he arrived.) They do wrestle and play with toys together. He loves the park with the squirrels and birds. We go every morning at 6:15am. He went from a dog bed in my bedroom to in the bed with me all night. We just love him! He is sweet, sweet, sweet. We call him Louie or Lou...My husband said he does a "louie" by turning around 3 times before he goes to the potty. He is still not very active, and sleeps a lot, but eating well and in time he will be better. A big thank you for bringing this little one into our lives.
When I lost my "Granny Pom" of 20 years, I was a wreck. I'm Mom
to two Dobermans
as well, & never imagined how empty I would feel.......until it
happened. I've always been a big dog person (Dobies
specifically), but when I assumed responsibilities of the family
Pom.......I was taken off guard at how much I'd become attached.
More importantly, what a huge void I'd feel. They're such a
small dog, but have a big personality. It took me about two
days to realize I couldn't live without that little shadow. I
contacted Recycled Poms & spoke with Glenda Goodwin. She was
kind enough to talk with me for longer than I know she probably
had time for, & I'm so happy I made that call! Glenda made some
suggestions of dogs I may want to meet & I began the process. I
had no idea I'd come home with the opposite of what I had in
mind, & what a perfect match it would end up being.
I wanted a female, Coco is male. I wanted a chocolate color,
Coco is blonde.
Regardless........I think things work out in mysterious ways & I
just went with my heart. I think Granny Pom probably had alot
to do with it, as I know she's watching over us. Coco-Pants
came to me at a low point for & he'd not had a very good go of
it either.........we were just what each other needed & things
are going great! My Dobermans love him & so do the kitties in
the house. (well ok, sometimes the Dobies just look at me like
"why?" LOL)
Anyway, thank you Cheri & Glenda for bringing us together!!!
Coco is very lucky to have been rescued by you two ladies!

We found Twinkles on Petfinder.com and she was being fostered
with the Recycled Poms and Schipperkes of Garland, TX. What
attracted me to Twinkles was her adorable face. When we went to
meet her, she had just been spayed and she was quiet and demure
when we took her home with us. The next day was a different
story! She was jumping around and chasing the cats in no time.
(The cats love her, even when she chases them!) She is very
well-behaved and only barks at other dogs when she's outside on
our walks. We love her so much, that we're in the process of
adopting another Pomeranian so she won't be an only child! Of
course, she will have the final say and will approve of her
sister! We are so thankful for the people who foster these
unwanted dogs. We can't imaging why someone would have dropped
off Twinkles at a shelter in the first place, but we are so
happy to have her in our home. She is loved and cared for and we
couldn't imagine our lives without her.

It's been a few
months, so I thought I'd let you know how wonderfully the four
dogs are doing. They're all doing well. We love them so much!
My girls Cassidy and
Capri took
a week-long dog
training camp (with the dogs) earlier this summer through
a non-profit group here in Austin called the Austin Dog
Alliance. All four dogs loved it when we camping in our pop-up
trailer over the July 4 holiday. I've attached a photo of the
four of them from our camping trip.
I just wanted to check in and tell you how much I love my little
girl, Lexey, and to also send you a couple of photos.
I have been around (and owned) several dogs over the years and Lexey
has to be one of the most sweetest and smart girls there is. It is
amazing how she will stop people in their tracks when they see
her....and then they come and love on her and she is such a well
mannered little girl. I could go on and on..... Abbey loves her
too...although we have had a couple of "big dog"
instances take place.... With all of that being said I just wanted
to say Hi and tell you all THANK YOU again for bringing Lexey and I
(and Abbey) together.
Also, one of these days, I will be back to add another baby to the
family. I look at your site regularly and I love looking at those
babies. You all are truly Angels and doing such a good thing!!!
We always loooooooove to announce the hard case adoptions. Today,
Kisses got
adopted. She's old, blind and has a heart arthymia that
will probably shorten her life. The adopters know all this and want
her anyway. They already love her and she's going on vacation with
them for two weeks!

Taz has my husband under his
spell. My big masculine husband talks baby talk and he even lets Taz
give him kisses. (Which he rarely allowed our big dog). He
told Taz the first week not to get used to sleeping in our bed but
he still gets in our bed and cuddles with my husband (he has never
slept with a dog) so I am seeing a different side of my
husband of 22 years.
I am a dog lover but Taz is my first little one. It is
different than my lab mix puppy 13 years ago. They are so much more
cuddly and needy and some how potty more than I remember. I
know he is smart because he takes his toy in and out of his little
box. He goes potty every time I take him out and that is a lot since
I am home with him all day, but he still manages to sneek some in
the house. He will be chanlening with potty training. Taz loves
his new kennel. We just started with a soft travel type but it
is his man cave already. He tries to take shoes and anything
he wants to keep in side his little cave with him and it is so funny
when one of my shoes won't fit. I work mostly from home office
on the computer and phone and he wants to sit on my lap most of the
time if not sleeping in his kennel. It does not take long to
spoil him rotten. He is like a little angel when he is sleepy
but he is the Tazmania devil when he is wide awake and wants to play
- so his name and our last name - Looney is a perfect fit. I
have attached a few copies of new photos of Taz. I will update
infor on the website also. Thanks for your support.
Bogie is doing fantastic! He has completely adjusted...he is
awesome! He has been to the vet and checked out great...is on
his monthly heart worm...he has had his nails trimmed and will be
going to the groomers within the next few months to get ready for
the Summer...he does wonderful with bath time....teeth brushing he
doesn't like so much, but will allow us to do it with hesitation.
He loves Mark Sr....he seems to be his favorite. he is a great
walker and a great traveler..he just took a trip to
California with
us at Christmas.
His personality is really coming through....he LOVES Bella and
cannot get enough of her..they run and play and wrestle and sleep
together with either us or our daughter. He absolutely
loves treat time (after dinner) every night...stands on his hind
legs to get it...he is absolutely adorable and he is the completion
and companion we were hoping for for Bella and our family. We
are so thankful for him and love him to pieces...he is a beautiful
boy and has come such a long way with his trust issues...
Where do I start about our
Gracie,we love this dog so much & I do believe she is smartest dog I
have ever had . Her tricks we have taught her include giving you a
high five, sits, lays down just about anything for Pup-peroni & if
you say the word her ears perk up. Never think you get to old to
give love to a pet because they don't care as long as you love them
back. Gracie is such a pleasure & has added so much joy to our
home, everyone should adopt a Pet like a Pom-- I want another one but
my husband loves this so much he says no because Gracie might get
jealous!
Thought I would give you
an update on the assimilation of Cappy.
I think he is doing remarkably well. He's bonding very fast, is
playful and joyful to see us. And very puppy like. I
sometimes think, he may be even a little younger than 2. I
weighed him. 8.2 #'s. His appetite is good.
I can see how smart he is. Has already figured out some routines
etc. Cautious but not afraid of Patches, the cat. She is 5 y/o,
weighs 13 1/2 #'s and a rescue survivor herself. Am now working on
his sitting, off, (from jumping up), he will pull on the pants leg
to prevent you from walking away. And leash work. It's really not
fair that he is soooooooooooo adorable. When we step out into the
solarium, he stands fully upright and does the Schip pattycake
thing. As you know, will be a lap dog, but not needy and will jump
down after awhile to play with his toys and check things out.
I am not seeing any problems with his history of abuse...
emotionally, psychologically, mentally seems to be real good. His
adaptation to here is rapid and he's making it his territory
already. To sum up, we are very pleased with him. And I know I
have a long road to haul on his training. Schips aren't the
easiest as you know. But am sure he'll do just fine.
Will keep you abreast of progress as time goes on. Ya'll did a
good job on socializing him. I am continuing to do that.

My family adopted a funny, furry little guy from you on July 1, 2008 – so it’s almost our one year anniversary! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and all the other wonderful volunteers at Recycled Poms & Schipperkes for helping us find Brewer (formerly Buster). He is a joy and we love him so much! The kids argue over whose night it is to have Brewer sleep with them. When I check on them after they’re asleep, Brewer always seems to have the lion’s share of the bed – I think he’s under the impression that he’s a Great Dane with fantastic hair! He visited the vet at the first of the year to get his shots and they said he weighs 7.5 pounds and is in excellent health. They also said that he’s their favorite kennel guest. He does have allergies so we give him a daily dose of doggie-Benadryl to keep his eyes from watering. He takes his pill very well – it helps that I put it in a little piece of cheddar cheese. Boy, does he love cheese! A couple of weeks ago I took him to All 4 Paws for his first real haircut – he had a pesky mat on his back leg that I could not get out – he hates for me to brush his rump so I have to constantly be on the lookout for mats. He looked great and I think he really enjoyed having shorter hair – especially since the temperature is rising. In the first picture, he is sleeping with his ducky (his fave toy). He loves to go for walks, chase bugs and play in mud puddles – that last one is always followed by a bath which is still NOT his favorite activity. We are still working on getting him to walk on a leash – we switched to a harness so he’s more comfortable. I am constantly complimented on how well behaved and friendly he is – and I always give credit to his fantastic foster parents.

Did I ever tell you Mr T is the second best blessing in my life? I love my little man so much and we have such a good time. He had his 1st birthday and got a little swimming pool. I put one to two inches of water in it and he loves it. He walks around in it like he is really doing something great and then hops out. He loves squeaky toys the best. We got his hair cut and it is growing out fast. Since he likes to play out side and we go a lot in the summer I think I will trim him once a year, but not close to the skin. We will see how it works out. I can’t believe how smart he is! He listens to me talking and knows so many words it is amazing.
Rusty
is going to be a spoiled rotten doggie! Tom, the
dad, will be taking Rusty for rides with him in his handicap
motorscooter. This couple is retired, so they can be with Rusty all
day long. It is a
perfect match!
Precious
is doing well. She was a BIG hit at my sister's Xmas party.
She was a green M&M at Christmas and is with Jude on New Year's Eve.

I have no
power when it comes to correcting Dillon. When he raises the
paw and gives me that look I immediately melt. He is loved very much
and has been a great pal to Kessler. Dillon came into our home
and took it over lock, stock and barrel. He also protects us from
the evils that lurk outside of the glass front door. We don't know
what he thinks is out there but we will be safe nonetheless!
There's
a few more things I want to tell you about Eddie. First of all, She
has about ten toys that I put in a bowl that she plays with. When
ever Billy and I are gone, and we get home, her toys are all over
the house. But before we got to sleep, without fail, she'll collect
every single one of them, and put them under the coffee table, which
is her favorite place in the world. It's where she loves to chew her
raw hide or treats. It's her little space.
Then, she has a little secret place she buries her bones... in one
of my big
flower pots
outside. She'll go out several times a day to make sure it's still
there. It's so cute.
Also, she loves to have her belly rubbed. She tricks you into to it,
though. She'll come up to you, then you pet her, then she'll roll
over and you rub her head, then she takes her paws and pushes your
hands down to her belly. It's hilarious.
She loves to kiss! (lick). Last night she came up to Frankie, and
kissed him on the mouth! I don't think Frankie knew what to make of
it. Frankie's ears pricked up, he plopped down, and then just stared
at Eddie. Frankie's really starting to warm up to Eddie. There's
been a cat lurking around the backyard, and Frankie saw Eddie run it
off. I think she has a new found appreciation for her after that...
Grumbles is
doing great! He's got a nice thick coat on him now and his tail is
trying to catch up. He looks like a big poof ball now and we've
already had to trim him up a bit. He doesn't have the black dry
skin he used to have either. I can't tell if the medication helped
or not but he looks fine now.
He ripped up all his toys so we got him a real heavy duty rubber
bone to play fetch and tug of war with. So far he hasn't been able
to tear it up. He also has a pressed bone chew he likes a lot. He
has gotten very lazy. If he drops his bone or toy off the couch or
bed he'll just stare at it with a sad face expecting one of us to
pick it up for him.
He doesn't especially like the cat except to chase her and they
sleep on different sides of the bed, but the other day he got up
from his side and laid down right next to her! She just looked at
him like he was crazy and went back to sleep. He is usually very
jealous of her. If I'm petting the cat he'll chase her away and lay
on top of me even if he was doing something else.
He likes to be picked up now and I can even hold him like a baby.
He's gotten to where he likes Justin better than me though. Whenever
he comes home Grumbles is all over him wanting to play.
He's gotten used to Justin's parents' dogs since we visit often.
They have two little chihuahuas and Grumbles doesn't seem to mind
them much, but he still won't play with them. I don't think he'll
ever get over his dog fear.
He has been a total sweetheart! Thanks so much for saving him!
Hey all - we adopted a new little Pom from a really cool organization here in Dallas - Recycled Poms. His new name is Zeekie and we are really in love with him. He is about 4-5 years old - has only 5 teeth - was homeless and terribly matted so his coat had to be cut right down to the skin. (Hence the shirt - He doesn't care that it is PINK - it was the only one I could find in his size.) He is completely house broken and NOT a yapper! We are very, very fortunate to have him!
